Often we focus on moments that shock or inspire the player here at Treasure Chest. But today we will talk about constructing a character. Today’s moment marks the presentation and birth of an honored hero, which defined him as one of my favorites. He stand out among other great characters in an awesome game (second best game of all time in my opinion). I'm talking about Frog from Chrono Trigger .

From the start until now we touched grandeur, respect and bizarre here in the Treasure chest, now is time to talk about horror. Oh … the horror! It’s probably one of the most memorable feelings human beings may experience. I know that this is remarkably true for me. As proof, among 10 moments on one of my first drafts listing to include here at the Treasure chest 4 or 5 of them were from scary games (I changed some of them before deciding which moments would really make the cut). One of them comes from a terrifying game called Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem and shows one of the aspects that can cause fear: the feeling of being powerless.

Every now and then a new game concept appears, sometimes this new game has great gameplay, great aesthetic or is just so insane that no one had reached it before! The moment I chose for the third “Treasure Chest” comes from the latter, an insane game at its core and a great great game on the whole. Let’s take a vacation on a great secret from the freaky (and funky) Toejam & Earl .

Today we will talk about respect. Ever wondered why so many games or movies based on super-heroes (or other known IP) tend to suck? Yeah, you are right: lack of respect. Respect for who the character is. What the character does. How the character thinks and behaves. The moment I chose for this second edition of “Treasure Chest” is in the best super-hero game ever made and, for me, the epitome of said respect. Join me for a great boss “fight” in Batman: Arkham Asylum .
